Elseva’s husband, Simeon, is a member of the Duviara church of Christ. Though she had been attending worship for a few years now with her husband, she had never fully committed to Christ. She felt that since she had been baptized as a baby into the Presbyterian church, her baptism was OK. However, after examining the Bible, she realized that her baptism was the result of following a teaching according to man’s doctrine rather than God’s Word. Once she realized that baptism requires the proper form (immersed) and function (to remove sin and join one to Christ and His church), she was convinced that she needed to be baptized properly (Acts 19). On May 10th, 2008, Elseva was baptized into Christ.
