Leikavei (pronounced lay-kah-vay) is the wife of Patrick, whom I studied with and baptized last February. At the conclusion of those studies, I asked Patrick if his wife would be interested in studying with Shawnda (she had already been attending services occasionally). He said he would talk to her about it, and the following Sunday Shawnda and Leikavei set up a time to study together.

After a few months of studying each Wednesday, Leikavei knew what she needed to do to be in a right relationship with God, and Patrick really encouraged her to make that important decision. However, she was unwilling to make the decision simply to please her husband...she understood that this decision had to be her own. After a week of "counting the cost" Leikavei was baptized by her husband Patrick.

Shawnda and Leikavei continue to study each Wednesday in an effort to disciple this young Christian in her spiritual walk. Leikavei has already shown great interest in growing as a Christian woman. Recently, she asked the ladies here in Vila to begin scheduling women's activities in the afternoons so she could attend them, as she works in the mornings. While this may not sound like much, for someone to make that type of request in this culture proves that they are truly dedicated (the average person would just accept their own absence without much thought). Please pray for Patrick and Leikavei and their future together in the Lord.
