I first met Morten (left middle) last year during one of my regular monthly visits to Epau. His wife, Rita, has been a Christian for a few years, and has been praying that her husband would join her in that decision. I first met Morten when Arthur and I went to his house to invite him to come to a study. He came that night, and the following morning, but didn't show much interest after that...until the Epau Gospel Meeting. Morten attended the studies every night of the eight week meeting, and asked lots of thoughtful questions. I could tell by his facial expressions that he was really paying attention and wanted to learn. Following the last study in this series, Morten came forward to be baptized. We talked about the importance of that decision for a few minutes, and afterwards we went down to the river where Max (right middle) baptized him into Christ. I later found out that Morten thought he was ready to make that decision after the first night's study, but decided he wanted to consider that decision further, and get all his questions answered first. When we returned to the church building, Rita ran up saying, "thank you, thank you, thank you..." and shook my hand. She said that this was an answer to prayer, one that she had been praying for years. It was wonderful to see this family united in Christ at last. EB |
