Pedro first lived in the village of Duviara, atop the hills of Ambae, which is where we first met in 2005 on our team’s first trip to Ambae. Now, Pedro lives in the village area of Saramaewo and worships with the Neihala church of Christ on Ambae island.

Upon Aaron’s last trip to Ambae in February of 2007, several classes were taught on the topic of baptism. Aaron stressed the need for baptism to have not only the correct form (immersion in water), but also the correct function (to wash away sins). Through several discussions with Pedro, it became apparent that he was questioning his baptism. Upon thinking back, Pedro said that, “I really didn’t have any clue what I was doing when I was baptized. I saw what everyone else was doing, so I did it, too.”

Pedro wanted to erase any doubt or question of his baptism and wanted to be baptized for the forgiveness of his sins, fully knowing what he was doing this time.

On March 4th, 2007 Tom (Etas village by Port Vila) who had come with Aaron to Ambae baptized Pedro into Christ.
